We’re counting down the hours until we set sail from Los Angeles on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas for a special back-to-back cruise vacation. My husband, Josh, and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary with our two little ones (both under 7). We’ve booked two seperate balcony cabins for the trip (for the two seperate legs of the trip). The first cruise is 3 nights, heading to Ensenada, Mexico, and the second cruise is 5 nights with an overnight stop in Cabo San Lucas.

Image: Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas, a Quantum-class ship that’s packed with exciting features . Our ship is truly a floating resort – “one of the world’s most innovative ships” as Royal Caribbean describes . We’re especially looking forward to our chef’s dinner that we have booked for the two of us for our anniversary.
Balcony Cabins & Itinerary Highlights
First cruise (3 nights): Los Angeles → Ensenada (Mexico) → back to LA. In Ensenada we look forward to sunny beaches and La Bufadora, a natural geyser that shoots seawater high into the air . Second cruise (5 nights): Los Angeles → (Day at Sea) → Cabo San Lucas (overnight) → (Day at Sea) → back to LA. In Cabo, we’ll see the iconic El Arco rock formation at Land’s End, relax on Playa Medano, and maybe enjoy a margarita at a beachside restaurant .
Unlimited Drinks & Family Fun
We treated ourselves to the Deluxe Beverage Package, which means endless drinks throughout the trip . From morning coffee or freshly pressed juices to poolside cocktails and wine with dinner, it’s all included. (Cheers to celebrating with a cocktail in hand!)
The cruise also offers fantastic kids’ activities. Our two kids will have a blast in the Adventure Ocean® youth program, which is divided into age-specific groups. Our 3.5 year old will be in the Aquanauts group and our 6 year old in the Explorers group, each with fun, educational activities like science experiments and themed parties . Best of all, Adventure Ocean is complimentary, giving mom and dad some time to relax!
Looking Ahead
We can’t wait to make memories together as a family – relaxing or beachcombing in Mexico by day, and enjoying live shows or a quiet anniversary dinner onboard by night. With pools, the FlowRider surf simulator, and all those bars and restaurants to explore, this cruise is the perfect way to start the summer vacation with kids. Bring on the sunshine, the endless margaritas, and the family fun – Ovation of the Seas, here we come!
Oh and one more thing.. we can’t wait to hide all our #cruisingDucks!
